The Hooper House, located in St. Clair County, was determined to be eligible for the National Historic Register of Historic Places based on its unique roof construction. John Hooper constructed the home circa 1903 where himself, his wife Molly and nine children lived.
The Corps of Engineers reconstructed the home in 1984 near the Harry S. Truman Visitor Center and visitors may take a self-guided tour of the home. Also, a summer kitchen, smoke house, sorghum press, and barn may be visited at the Hooper House homestead.
